Karen Alford, CEO
Karen Alford brings over 26 years of first-hand E&S experience to her recruiting business. Karen spent her career with Scottsdale Insurance Company / Nationwide holding various roles including Underwriting Assistant, Claims Adjuster in both Transportation and Casualty lines, Marketing Consultant, Business & Learning Consulting as well as Project Management. Karen led many company wide initiatives and projects that required identifying and bringing together the right associates and/or customers to successfully meet the defined business goals and objectives. Karen understands the need building the right team with the right skills to be successful and no doubt brings those same skills and understanding with finding talent.
Karen was also very active with industry organizations such as AAMGA now WSIA. Karen was a member of the Under Forty Organization for AAMGA and held the role of Associate Chair for the UFO Board of Directors. Karen also founded, built and led the AAMGA/WSIA Emerging Issues and Innovation Committee from 2014 - 2018, with the idea that as an industry we can pool our knowledge and expertise to evaluate emerging risks and trends and assess the probability and severity of each trend and how we as an industry can mitigate the risks and/or take advantage of the opportunities. Building this team was the biggest challenge as it required her to dig deep into the industry members and find who had the right knowledge and/or expertise to make this committee successful in order to benefit the members. One of Karen’s career highlights was attending a week long international trip to Lloyd’s of London to meet with the Lloyd’s executive team and then President Inga Beale to learn about the London Market and innerworkings of how business is conducted. Spending time with Underwriters and Brokers in “The Box” was fascinating and an unforgettable learning experience.
There is nothing Karen values more than the friendships and business relationships she has built through the years. Her customers know her work ethic and trust and respect the work and results she delivers. There is no doubt, Karen brings the right energy, experience and knowledge to navigate the E&S industry and finding the best talent for her clients.
Karen is married to her hero, Sean, a Fire Captain / Paramedic for the city of Glendale, AZ, they have a beautiful daughter Peyton who is 10 years old and have a 2 year old pup, Bailey.
